Transiting Planets & your Relationships

by COSS Blog Contributor Tamara Sophia

Have you ever wondered “What on earth is happening in my relationships” The transiting planets usually provide some insights on this, both to romantic and business partnerships. The movements of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune & Pluto can tell you when to focus on finding a marriage or business partner, how to make a current relationship better and when separation may be the card you’re dealt.

Since early 2021 and continuing all through 2022, Leos and Leo ascendants see Saturn in their relationship sector. This could manifest as having to work harder in your primary partnership where accountability and obligation becomes a more important theme.

Sometimes it may play out as circumstances beyond your control creating tensions and frustrations, and forcing you to examine whether you’re getting your needs met. You are called to “master” your relationships, both business and personal. In fact, the mountain you began climbing to improve the quality of your relationships may seem a little less steep now, because last year, it was paved with Jupiter’s gifts of healing and generosity of spirit. And if already in a relationship, you probably experienced a feeling of goodwill and positivity that lead to a deeper and more mature love, despite the challenges. And if you were single and looking, you could have found your soulmate and made a commitment.

However, Jupiter has now moved on, leaving only Saturn to complete your process of maturation in 2022. The mountain may seem steeper, but understand that you are learning valuable lessons in how to deal with people in a responsible, adult way.

You will also find, moving forward, that certain relationships demand more attention and compromise than otherwise. And if you are single and looking, the partner you meet is more likely to be someone older or more sophisticated who teaches you about life; perhaps a mentor of sorts. You will grow quite a bit during this period, through one key relationship.

Now through November 2022, Jupiter enters the picture for Libras and Libran ascendants, bringing with it the theme of goodwill and growth. If your relationship is in poor shape, this may exacerbate things, but if its in good shape, Jupiter often improves your relationship. This is particularly true until May 2022 and towards November and December 2022. One possible manifestation during this summer is that your romantic interest or the people you meet are fortunate for you. They bring you opportunities, or together, in partnership, you’re supported to create new opportunities for yourself. It reinforces the likelihood that you partner with someone that brings you benefits or teaches you (like a mentor) about something you need to learn about. This is also typically considered a fertile period to marry or commit to a partner. This taste of Jupiterian opportunity is just that; but it continues in full force around Xmas 2022 and into most of 2023.

Aquarians and Aquarian Ascendants, with Saturn affecting your solar first house since early 2021, they also impact your relationships, though in a slightly different way than Leo’s experience it. You are more in control of your relationships, and more likely to influence the direction of your partnerships because you are primarily directing your own individual path, even more than you normally do. Hopefully you enjoyed your Jupiter transit last year 2021; it gave you the confidence to jump into the waters of some interesting opportunity, project, study or partnership.

Luck played a role too but it was mainly your personal readiness to take a risk in something important to you; something that expanded and developed you. You were given a higher level of responsibility in 2021 too, though with a nice balance of work vs play, thanks to Jupiter’s influence. And, if you were single and looking, you might even have found your soulmate and made a commitment. The harder work happens now in 2022, bringing to mind the analogy of “conceiving the baby” vs “looking after the baby”. Saturn ensures that you follow the consequences of your actions, so whatever you started in the past year, will likely see results this year. If you had clear objectives and a carefully crafted plan, you will likely see positive results, particularly in your income producing sector.

If you’re a Scorpio or Scorpio ascendant, planet Uranus continues to create unpredictable changes and excitement in your key relationships since Spring 2019 and this continues until 2025. Though they may feel disruptive, these changes will help to shake up routines and expectations. And having eclipses in your relationship sector create further growth through change, often dramatic.

It’s a perfect time to be innovative and experiment in your marriage in order to keep things fresh. Do/Try things you’ve never done before, and make the relationship feel new. And if you’re stuck in a bad marriage, this approximately 6-7 year transit of Uranus will be liberating; jolting you out of a sense of complacency and boring old patterns. It’s time to accept change, because no matter how shocking it may seem, you’ll be glad you did.

If you’re single, dating and romance will be full of twists and turns, and could bring interesting new people into your life. For the next few years, the energy of your partnerships could be described as “edgy or unconventional”.

You Virgos (and Virgo ascendants) have been contending with planet Neptune since approximately 2012, which tends to translate into a lack of clarity and groundedness in your relationship sector. During this transit, lasting until 2025, you may meet someone and have the most romantic and idyllic relationship you’ve ever had, but then later discover that you’ve put them on a pedestal of perfection and they have inevitably fallen. There’s a tendency to get embroiled in fantasy and illusion. Stay alert to any behaviour or situations that indicates a problem in the partnership. Beware of the Harlequin romance. You (or your partner) are susceptible to self-deception where you see the partnership as you’d like it to be, instead of the way it really is. And when the truth comes out, its often a shock. Practice open and honest dialogue with them to make sure you clearly understand what’s happening in your relationship at all times.

However this past year, Jan-May and Nov/December 2022, Jupiter continues to bless your relationships, bringing goodwill and growth. If your relationship is in poor shape, this may exacerbate things, but if its in good shape, Jupiter often improves your relationship. One possible manifestation during these times is that your romantic interest or the people you meet are fortunate for you. Particularly in November and until Xmas 2022, you will find that people bring you opportunities, or together, in partnership, you’re supported to create new opportunities for yourself. It reinforces the likelihood that you partner with someone that brings you benefits or teaches you (like a mentor) about something you need to learn about. This is also typically considered a fertile period to marry or commit to a partner. And if you are a Libra Sun or ascendant, you will get a taste of this Jupiterian effect approximately May – November 2022 and then again in 2023.

If you’re a Cancer or Cancer ascendant, planet Pluto has been overwhelming all of your key relationships since 2008. Continuing until 2024, this transit has felt extremely heavy and intense, like you’ve been swept up into something that is bigger than anything else in your life. You likely met your soulmate and experienced an intense connection like you’ve never had before. Of, if already married, you have come to feel closer than ever, as if two personalities have merged into one. You have probably felt as though this is the person you were meant to be with, problems and all.

You’ll continue to find any superficial relationships to be boring and unsatisfying, because they don’t give you the depth you’ve come to need. However, this transit also brings about crisis in your partnership, such as the loss of a job and ensuing challenges, retirement, financial or sexual difficulties, addictions or affairs, or serious illnesses. Sometimes the death of someone close to you rocks the relationship or manifests destructive behaviour based on deep psychological issues. If you are in a relationship that’s emotionally or physically abusive, or co-dependent with someone that’s unhealthy for you, it’s in this period that it will die or finally, after much drama, be transformed into a healthy state. With about 3 years left of this transit, and with Saturn having left your relationship sector, you are hopefully now in the phase of transforming those relationships that have survived, into a much healthier state.
